Spencer “Yutía” Hayes is a contemporary artist exploring the connection between the outer world, the inner self, and the divine. Born and raised in the Washington, D.C., area, he discovered painting through his father. After his father’s passing, Hayes pursued his craft with greater purpose while honoring the influence that first inspired him.

His perspective has been shaped by studying abroad in Madrid and traveling through Barcelona, Rome, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Venice, Paris, and the landscapes of Switzerland. Using bold color, gestural movement, expressive landscapes, and spiritual symbolism, his work explores nature, emotion, faith, and unseen realities.

Guided by his belief in God as the ultimate Creator, Hayes creates to uplift, inspire, and encourage reflection. He believes an artist exists within everyone, waiting to be discovered. Through the presence of mirrors in his work, viewers are invited to see themselves as part of the artistic experience and recognize the creativity within.
